Checked out this kind of small pizza place in Decatur. Del Carmen's has a few locations. It seems to be a place where most people get takeout. Actually it's to be expected because there's not a whole lot of room inside. The prices are pretty good for pizza. Basic looking place where you order at the window or choose to dine in. It's also available for delivery within a few miles. There were only a couple people eating in here at a table. However there were a few orders for carryout. We chose to get it to go because it felt pretty lonely to be honest. It's about $12 for a medium, which is pretty okay for what you get. We got the Veggie Pizza. Better than expected. Toppings include black olives, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. For sure it's one of the many places to get pizza around here. It's located on Water Street close to Pershing. They have pretty limited hours with them only being open a few hours on Saturdays and being closed on Sundays, which is crazy, because the busiest times for pizza is weekends.
Del Carmen's pizza is in a class of its own. The sauce, generously spread from crust to crust, is very unique. It is what gives the pizza its pizza! The toppings are abundant and high quality. The homemade cookies are delicious, too! The service is the best of anywhere; you are greeted immediately and with a smile. I always dine in, and am served quickly. We even share jokes! I love Del Carmen's Pizza on Water Street!
Ate occasionally at one on 22nd before it burnt down, ate once at second location by St. Theresa's ok not as good as in past. I know it is the same people not sure what changed but ordered a delight last night and it was the best pizza I ever had will definitely be going more !! Excellent different than any other a bit sweet which oddly if someone told me that I would think yuck but it is great !
Food is excellent - pizza crust is one of the best, healthy toppings and great tasting. The Italian Beef is also fantastic. The people are wonderful too - making it a pleasure to eat and be here. Recommend
We used to think Pizza Factory was the best pizza joint in Decatur. Del Carmens gives Pizza Factory a serious run for the their money. Their pizza sauce is sweet and perfect every time. We also love their pizza crust and their available crust options. Breadsticks are delicious too. We go to the north end location and it's very convenient. If you want something better than the pizza chains choose Del Carmens.... you won't regret it!
This is probably my favorite pizza restaurant in town. Their cauliflower crust pizza is amazing!!
